Dr Tim Anderson is Director of the Sydney-based Centre for Counter Hegemonic Studies. He worked at Australian universities for more than 30 years, teaching, researching and publishing on development, human rights and self-determination in the Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East. In the 1970s and 80s he was framed twice on terrorism charges but later cleared and paid compensation. In 2014 he was awarded Cuba’s Friendship medal. In 2019 he was expelled from his academic position at the University of Sydney for offending its Israeli sponsors. A five year long intellectual freedom test case in the Federal Court of Australia (NTEU v University of Sydney) ultimately failed.
He has published more than 70 academic articles and chapters in a wide range of journals and books, as well as many online essays.
